Otis (nice coincidence? with Michigan Offender Tracking and Information System) is a hilarious comedy around a family whose daughter gets kidnapped by a serial abductor/killer. At the very beginning I was under the impression that this is going to be a low budget bad quality film but I was patient enough to let go the first scene. On the one hand it came to my mind “Zodiac” and the Cohen Bros at the same time. Of course the real kick here is the family itself and how this shadows the killer in their torture methods and determination: the hunter becomes hunted (at least this is what the family thought). Unfortunately to the family – a pissed mother, a shooter game freak teenager and an indecisive father – they capture, torture and kill the wrong guy, the freak’s brother, which makes the pizza huge baby face guy get even more pissed. At the end, at a point when you don’t know who is the predator and who is the prey a cool scene closes up this awesome and creative movie stuffed with huge song, from the seventies and eighties. My score: 6.5.
