I am already used to Russell Crowe’s magnetic presence and know-how, or to short parts played by Peter Fonda, but I have to be frank and express my surprise from a job well done by Christian Bale and Ben Foster. I saw Christian Bale in the weird movie “The machinist” as well as his fantastic role in “Rescue Dawn”, but somehow, I enjoyed his performance in Yuma much more – playing the patriarchal family protector, fighting for his own turf, while trying to earn 200 bucks from turning in a prisoner (Crowe), forcing him to pay his debt to society. Score: 6.
